Age of Empires is dedicated to events taking place in Europe Africa and Asia covering the time period from the Stone Age to the Iron Age;  The addition for this game illuminates the formation and expansion of the Roman Empire.  Actions in the second part of the game Age of Empires II The Age of Kings occur in the Middle Ages;  the addition to it narrates mainly about the Spanish conquest of Mesoamerica.  The third part Age of Empires III affects the early period of modern times when the European powers colonized America.  The fourth part Age of Empires IV is under development but the exact historical period of its events has not yet been announced.  The series also includes Age of Empires Online – a closed free online game that uses the Games for Windows Live service – as well as Age of Mythology which is the spin-off series – actions take place in the same time period as in the original  Age of Empires but the emphasis is not on the historical component but on mythology (Greek Egyptian and Scandinavian).

Their Definitive Edition will also receive Age of Empires II and Age of Empires III.  What exactly are going to do with the second part it is not clear because its re-release has been living on Steam for a long time.  Microsoft promises to disclose details in an uncertain future. Age of Empires Definitive Edition will go on sale October 19 2017 exclusively for Windows 10. And August 22 will start beta testing.
